I think everybody here will agree that if you haven't already played it, get Demon's Souls. It's absolutely fantastic.

Actually, I don't know about Demon's Souls. It is possibly the best game I have ever played, but it NEEDS a thriving online community, which I don't know if it has right now.
Definitely pick up Red Dead Redemption, LittleBigPlanet 2 (in a few weeks), Killzone 3 in 2 months and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.

Demon's Souls servers get shut down in a couple of months.

Not anymore. But it is one of the best single-player games ever. Get the first one too.

For single player i'd reccomend Dead space and Infamous. both great games. Also, i strongly reccomend both Uncharted games. best series on PS3.

I'll be playing some Mulitplayer Coop on Uncharted 2 as soon as my girlfriend plays a bit of the game.
For good campaign try Batman Arkham Asylum. The second one is coming out soon. I really enjoyed that game.
I was also thinking of Red Dead as well. Haven't played it, but all the games mentioned so far are great games.

Castlvania lords of shadow was a pretty lengthy campaign. Although I haven't finished it dragon age origins is decent as well, and with the gotye out for like $65 it's a bargain. Enslaved had a great story as well.

I can't really add much here - the list so far is just too epic for its own good. But if you're really strapped for cash or can only focus on so many games at a time, I'd highly reccomend Red Dead Redemption and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (should also check out Uncharted: Drake's Fortune if possible), purely because both have fantastic single-player campaigns AND decent multiplayer with both co-operative AND competitive elements.
Also, you might want to keep your eye on Little Big Planet 2, in case you get sick of shooting people.

Valkyria Chronicles. Incredibly cheap, great campaign and story, it's a strategy RPG.

but it also depends what type of games you like.
Eg, Cyrax suggested Valkyria, but I absolutely hated that game because it was so slow, not that I don't like strategy games.
If you are into Action Adventure, Batman. The second one is coming out soon. Also Uncharted series. Third one is coming out end of 2011.
FPS, you've got blops, so that's not bad for now. Killzone 3 comin soon so get that when it's out.
Kiddy Multiplayer game for the whole fam, LBP2. Easy.
RPG look at GOW3, Infamous, Dragon Age, Red Dead,... etc

Infamous, GoW3, Red Dead - None of these are RPGs! Action-Adventure games.
